I was a 10-year-old girl when I met a four-legged, grumpy, lazy, black and tan dachshund. I don’t know why, but I named him Tequila. I did not know it then when I saw him trying to climb out of a dark brown cane basket that he arrived home in, but his companionship became the most essential part of my childhood and early adulthood. I grew up alongside him, and his personality and friendship influenced and inspired me both as an individual and an artist. I found my soulmate in a four-legged, cranky couch potato.
Although he is no longer beside me, Tequila & Paints is my way of honouring 16 years of memories and friendship.
